What is Jervis?

Jervis Systems allows short-term rental hosts to easily automate their smart home devices from one simple app. Eliminating the need to switch back and forth between multiple apps, hosts and property managers can easily manage all their smart tech from one place. Jervis connects with devices like:

What Does This Mean for Your Host Tools Account?

This exciting integration is yet another way Host Tools is continually improving the hosting experience for our users. With Jervis, hosts can have their reservations from all platforms sent to Jervis. Then, from Jervis, hosts can manage their settings.

This not only streamlines the management process but also adds an extra layer of security and convenience for both hosts and guests. Hosts can easily manage their smart home devices during a guest’s stay and even automate tasks like turning off lights and adjusting the thermostat when guests leave.

How to Connect Your Jervis Account with Host Tools

To take advantage of this integration, follow these simple steps:

1. Log in to your Jervis account and select the “Marketplace” tab.

2. From there, select “Host Tools”

3. You’ll then be prompted to insert your API Access Token from Host Tools

4. To find your API Access Token, open a new tab and log in to your Host Tools account.

5. Once logged in, select “Settings” under your profile picture.

6. From the Settings page, scroll down to “API & Integrations” from the navigation bar on the left. Then, click to copy your personal Access Token.

7. Navigate back to the Jervis tab and input your API Access Token from Host Tools.

8. After you’ve placed the token, select the “Properties” tab.

9. Choose “Refresh Properties.

After the page refreshes, you’ll then see all the properties you’ve connected with Host Tools. 

How to Set Up Your Smart Devices with Jervis

Now, you’ll have the opportunity to connect your smart locks and other smart devices to Jervis.

1. Select the “Devices” tab from the toolbar. 

2. On the Devices page, select “Import Devices.”

3. Choose the device you with to connect. For this example, we’ve chosen our “Master Lock.”

4. After importing your devices, you will need to assign them to your Host Tools properties. To do this, select the device you want to assign from the drop-down list.

Then, check the boxes for the properties you want to assign it to. Once assigned, the property status indicator on the Properties page will turn green for all properties with assigned devices.

5. To confirm your connection, select the “Reservations” tab.

From this tab, you’ll see the PIN code in the SET PIN field.

The next step is to set up guest messaging within Host Tools. This will allow the code and check-in instructions to be sent directly to your guest.

6. You’ll need to edit your Quick Replies within your Host Tools account. If you need a refresher on Quick Replies, read this article. 

Once you’ve navigated to the Quick Replies page, input a placeholder variable in your message templates to auto-populate the code when the message is sent out to your guest. You can do this by selecting the “Guest’s Lock Code” option from the drop-down list of available tag options.

Congratulations! You’ve perfectly linked your Host Tools and Jervis accounts.
